Five steps on the stick itself
This is the short version — enough to see whether you're comfortable doing it yourself. Every step below is one we'll do with you over WhatsApp if you'd rather not.

Allow apps from unknown sources
Settings → My Fire TV → Developer Options → Install unknown apps. Amazon hides Developer Options until you click the Fire TV Stick name seven times on the About screen.

Install the Downloader app
It's in the Amazon Appstore, free, and it's how every non-Amazon app gets onto a stick. Search it from the home screen magnifying glass.

Sideload the player
Open Downloader, type the link we send you, and let it install. We tell you which player suits your stick — the older ones choke on the heavier apps.

Enter the login we send
Username, password, and server URL, pasted once. The app pulls your channel list and the TV guide down on its own from there.

Let the guide fill in
Give it two or three minutes on first launch. If you start flipping channels before the EPG finishes, it looks broken when it isn't.
Compatibility
Which Firestick you've got matters
They all sideload. They don't all keep up — and a stuttering channel is almost always the stick, not the stream.
Fire TV Stick 4K / 4K Max
The one to have. Handles 4K streams and the heavier players without stuttering.
Fire TV Stick (3rd gen, HD)
Fine for HD and most FHD channels. It'll run out of headroom on a busy 4K stream.
Fire TV Cube
Overkill, but it works beautifully — the extra RAM shows on channel switching.
Fire TV Stick Lite / 2nd gen
Sideloads fine, then struggles. Usable in a bedroom, frustrating as the main TV.

Does IPTV work on an Amazon Firestick in Canada?
Yes, and it's the most common way our Canadian customers watch. The stick plugs into any HDMI TV and streams over your home Wi-Fi — nothing about it is Canada-specific.
Do I need to jailbreak my Firestick?
No, and don't buy a stick from anyone selling it as 'jailbroken'. All you're doing is turning on sideloading, which is a normal Amazon setting, and installing a player app.
How long does the Firestick setup take?

Will it slow down my old Firestick?
A 2nd-gen stick or a Lite will feel sluggish switching channels — that's the hardware, not the stream. On a 4K or 4K Max you won't notice anything.
Do I need a VPN on my Firestick?
Not for the service to work. Some people run one anyway out of habit; if you do, pick a Canadian server or your guide and regional channels get confused.
